On the inaugural day of our journey, we’ll delve into the renowned Golden Circle, encompassing the esteemed Thingvellir National Park, Geysir hot spring, and the impressive Gullfoss waterfall. Following these iconic stops, we’ll venture towards the captivating South Coast, making pit stops at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, along with the stunning Reynisfjara black sand beach, before settling in for the night near Kirkjubæjarklaustri village.

Today’s itinerary features glaciers! Continuing our journey along the ring road towards the South-East, we’ll encounter Mýrdalsjökull glacier and traverse expansive lava fields en route to Skaftafell National Park, nestled within Vatnajökull National Park, home to Europe’s largest glacier. Here, our glacier exploration begins with a hike on one of Vatnajökull’s outlet glaciers. Following our adventure, we’ll pause at the renowned Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where floating icebergs dot the landscape. Our overnight stay awaits in Höfn í Hornafirði.

Today’s journey leads us through the captivating East Fjords of Iceland. We’ll navigate the scenic coastal roads, winding past the breathtaking Hvalnes Peninsula and the remarkable Þvottárskriður landslides between Lóns and Álftafjarðar.

Our first stop is Djúpivogur, a quaint fishing village boasting the delightful outdoor sculpture Eggin í Gleðivík (translated as The Eggs of Merry Bay).

Next, we’ll unwind at the geothermal Vök Baths, offering modern design and the exclusive experience of floating infinity pools amidst the stunning backdrop of Lake Urriðavatn. Indulging in the hot baths is optional and can be arranged at your expense during booking.

Following our rejuvenating soak, we’ll journey onwards to Egilsstaðir, East Iceland’s largest town, where we’ll settle into our accommodations for the night.

Embarking on our journey to the island’s northern region, we’ll traverse the untamed Möðrudalur valley before reaching our first destination: Dettifoss waterfall, renowned as Europe’s mightiest cascade. Following our exploration, we’ll venture towards the captivating landscape of Lake Mývatn, where you’ll capture the beauty of Námaskarð, Hverfjall crater, and Dimmuborgir lava field.

Our day concludes with a visit to the enchanting crescent-shaped Goðafoss waterfall before heading to the stunning Eyjafjörður fjord, surrounded by towering mountains. Resting for the night at a charming country hotel in Akureyri, you’ll also have the opportunity to discover the northern fishing town. From November to March, your guide will assist in locating prime spots for viewing the Northern Lights near the hotel.

In the morning, explore Akureyri, the northern capital, before embarking on a 3-hour whale-watching excursion from Dalvík, renowned for frequent whale sightings, particularly humpback whales. Optionally, upgrade for a nominal fee between April and October to a 1.5-hour RHIB boat tour for a closer encounter. Following the whale-watching adventure, we’ll journey through the picturesque village of Siglufjörður and the rugged Tröllaskagi peninsula before reaching Laugarbakki, our final stop for the night on this tour.

On Day 6 of our journey, we venture to Borgarfjörður in West Iceland, a destination acclaimed by Lonely Planet in 2016. With its rich natural and historical wonders, we’ll explore highlights like the Deildartunguhver hot spring and two stunning waterfalls: Barnafoss (the Children’s waterfall) and Hraunfossar, flowing directly from a lava field. Our itinerary also includes a visit to Reykholt, once the residence of the renowned Icelandic historian, lawyer, politician, author of the Icelandic Sagas, and poet Snorri Sturluson. The day concludes with breathtaking views of Hvalfjörður (Whale Fjord) before reaching our evening destination by 5 – 6 pm.
