Basecamp Antarctica
Day 01: Arrival at Ushuaia at your convenience (we suggest arriving two days before boarding). Later in the day, a warm “Welcome aboard” awaits. Ushuaia serves as our embarkation point, nestled in the world’s southernmost city. By evening, we set sail through the Beagle Channel into the vast Atlantic. Enjoy an overnight stay on the vessel.
Embark on a journey to your selected hotel, where you’ll rendezvous with your knowledgeable guide for an insightful briefing on the upcoming adventure. Enjoy a restful overnight stay at your Cairo accommodation.
Day 02 – 03: The Drake Passage divides Cape Horn from the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, where abundant ocean currents nourish diverse marine life. As you sail, expect the company of wandering albatrosses, gray-headed albatrosses, black-browed albatrosses, and petrels. By the second day, you’ll likely encounter the first icebergs. Enjoy two nights aboard as you explore this remarkable journey.
Day 04 – 10: Embark on an adventure deep into the heart of the Antarctic Peninsula’s alpine wonders. Stay longer at scenic base camps to indulge in various activities: kayak through serene bays, hike along the coast or inland, conquer challenging summits for breathtaking views, and capture stunning photos of iceberg-laden landscapes. Weather permitting, spend a night under the polar sky in a tent camp. Explore diverse destinations like Neumayer Channel, Port Lockroy with its unique museum and post office, Lemaire Channel to Petermann Island, Neko Harbour with its massive glaciers, and picturesque Paradise Bay or Danco and Cuverville Island. Keep an eye out for wildlife like leopard seals, humpback whales, and Adelie and gentoo penguins. Depart from the Antarctic Peninsula on day 10, bound for South America, after seven unforgettable nights aboard.
Day 10 – 11: Experience the marvels of the Drake Passage, where majestic seabirds and magnificent wandering albatrosses await your discovery. Engage in insightful lectures that recap previous days’ adventures. Enjoy two nights aboard the vessel, immersing yourself in the wonders of the journey.
Day 12: Arriving in Ushuaia at dawn, each embarks on their own path homeward.
