Kerala's Tropical Escape

 Day 01: Upon arrival in Cochin, receive a warm traditional welcome (‘Swagat’) from our representative who will assist with your airport transfer and hotel check-in. Enjoy your overnight stay in Cochin.

Day 02: At 9 AM, we embark on a captivating half-day tour of Cochin, exploring the historic St. Francis’ Church, the Portuguese-built Dutch Palace, Jew Town, the 1568 Jewish Synagogue, a fragrant spice market, and the iconic Chinese fishing nets.

Following this, we set off for Munnar, a scenic 150 km, 4-hour drive away, marked by stunning waterfalls and misty mountains. On arrival, we check into our hotel for a restful night.

Munnar, a beloved hill station at the junction of three rivers, stands at 1600 meters above sea level. Once a British summer resort, it now entices with its tea plantations, quaint towns, and a plethora of trekking options, offering a slice of heaven for visitors.

Day 03: After breakfast, we embark on a morning journey through Munnar, exploring the highest tea plantations in the world, an endless vista of emerald greenery. We’ll also visit Eravikulam National Park, home to the elusive Nilgiri Tahr, noting that the park is closed in January and February. The remainder of the day is yours to discover Munnar’s charm at your own pace.

Day 04: Today, we embark on an adventure to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled beside a picturesque lake in South India’s heart. Famed for its rich biodiversity, Periyar offers a unique chance to explore wildlife via lake cruises. Here, one can encounter elephants, tigers, leopards, bison, antelopes, sambhar, wild boar, monkeys, and an array of birds.

Optional Activity: Enjoy a serene boat ride on Periyar Lake.
Accommodation: Spend the night in Periyar.

Day 05: In the morning, embark on an exciting elephant safari in Periyar, complemented by a tour of the local spice plantations and a serene boat journey across Periyar Lake. Afterward, we’ll head to Kottayam, where you’ll check into your hotel.

Nestled in Kottayam district, Kumarakom is a celebrated backwater destination in Kerala, accessible via a delightful journey from Alappuzha. Known as a slice of paradise in God’s own country, Kerala, Kumarakom is a tranquil village set against the backdrop of Vembanad Lake, surrounded by lush mangrove forests and coconut groves. It offers a perfect escape with its captivating scenery, providing opportunities for boating, fishing, and exhilarating sightseeing. The landscape is adorned with slender coconut palms, expansive paddy fields, and a network of lagoons and backwaters, creating a serene environment that soothes the soul. As you explore the vast Vembanad Lake, you’ll encounter an array of traditional houseboats and canoes, amidst a rich tapestry of flora, fauna, and aquatic life, making for an unforgettable stay in Kumarakom.

Day 06: Check out after breakfast and head to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Witness various bird species; cormorants, teals, and ducks from October to February, and darters, night herons, egrets, and Siberian storks from February to July, alongside other residents like the golden-backed woodpecker and white-breasted water hen.

Next, make your way to the jetty to embark on a houseboat, known locally as Kettuvallam. Enjoy a scenic cruise on the tranquil Vembanad Lake, a serene picnic haven perfect for relaxation and family time. Here, adults can unwind by the water, while the younger ones can engage in fishing and boating activities. Continue your journey through Alleppey’s backwaters, getting a glimpse into the villagers’ lives by the waterside.

End your day with an overnight stay on the houseboat, embracing the calm of the backwaters.

Day 07: This morning, we departed from our houseboat in Alleppey and set off for Kovalam, nestled at India’s southern tip and renowned for its pristine beaches. Kovalam boasts two primary beaches, divided by a towering cliff, and has gained popularity for its array of Ayurvedic centers and rejuvenation resorts, offering various Ayurvedic treatments.

We’ll be spending the night in Kovalam.

Day 08: Enjoy a leisurely day with the freedom to explore independent activities. Delight in the pristine White Sand beaches or indulge in Ayurvedic therapy.

Day 09: This morning, embark on a half-day exploration of Trivandrum. Begin at the revered Padmanabha Swami Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, surrounded by a vast complex and an imposing Gopuram. Adjacent to the temple is a sacred tank for ritual bathing. Next, discover the Napier Museum, a 19th-century marvel showcasing a unique assortment of archaeological artifacts, bronze idols, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot, and ivory carvings. The Indo-Saracenic structure incorporates a pioneering natural air-conditioning system, reflecting technological advancements of its time. Immerse yourself in the rich Indian art at the Sri Chitra Art Gallery, featuring works from early to modern schools, including pieces by Raja Ravi Varma and Mughal & Rajput miniature paintings adorned with semi-precious stones. Conclude the day with a visit to the enchanting Horsu Palace.

Later, head to Trivandrum Airport for your onward flight, carrying cherished memories of your India trip.
